Rice Field Walks

Popular rice field walks in Ubud include the Campuhan Ridge, Sweet Orange Walk Trail and Kajeng Rice Field Walk, these scenic trails offer easy access to stunning green landscapes, traditional farming villages, and quiet cafes right from the town centre.

Popular walks

  • Campuhan Ridge Walk: A famous paved ridge path starting near central Ubud with open hill views. It is about 2 kilometres long and best walked in the early morning (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM) to beat the heat.
  • Sweet Orange Walk Trail: A hidden trail starting just next to the Puri Lukisan Museum leading to sweet orang warung, measuring roughly 3 kilometres round-trip. The entrance is very hidden and narrow with uneven path, steps and rocks.
  • Kajeng Rice Field / Subak Juwuk Manis: Located just off Jalan Kajeng, this quieter sub-trail features narrow concrete paths over irrigation channels, local warungs, and fewer crowds.

Popular cafes

The most popular cafes directly on the Ubud walking trails are Sweet Orange Warung and Dragonfly Cafe along the inner-town loops, Yellow Flower Café near Campuhan.

Transport for Campuhan Ridge walk

To get transport at the north end of the Campuhan Ridge Walk (near Karsa Spa / Bangkiang Sidem village), your best options are hiring a local street taxi, walking slightly out of the zone to call a Grab/Gojek, or arranging a pre-booked driver.

Because this northern exit falls under a strict local taxi community zone (Ojek Lokal), standard ride-hailing apps are technically banned from picking up passengers directly at the trail’s immediate exit. There isn’t always drivers around therefore it is best to prebook a driver.
